Prayers For Our Military : July 8-14, 2013

battle_of_britain_propaganda_poster_midLord, we thank you for our U.S. military personnel and allies and for blessing our nations to be a mighty power in the world.  You are a faithful, loving and compassionate God. Lord, by the authority You have given to us, we command peace to be still on the earth.  By faith, we are expecting peaceful resolutions throughout the world.

As nations we are trusting in you and looking to you to deliver our military personnel from harm.  We are depending on you to rescue them and preserve them from those who are violent and those who plot evil in their hearts.  As nations we pray for those who joined you in your heavenly kingdom this week, esp.

iraq-loading-1006

Merciful God, comfort and heal all those who suffer in body, mind, or spirit; give them courage and hope in their troubles, and bring them to the joy of your salvation.
Grant that those who do not yet believe, and those who have lost their faith may receive the light of the Gospel. We pray that you grant all people deliverance from all danger, violence, oppression, and degradation so that we may end our lives in faith and hope, without
suffering and without reproach.

Receive Lord all who have died in the hope of the resurrection, and those whose faith is known to you alone, that, with all the
saints, they may have rest in that place where there is no pain or grief, but life eternal. We pray for those who joined you in your heavenly kingdom this week, esp.

prayer 2

Almighty God, our source of strength and courage, we ask you to guide the leaders of nations in the ways of peace and justice and enduring freedom for the peoples of the world.  In these times of peril and war against terrorism listen to our prayers for the men and women serving in our armed forces, our military leaders and our allies. Protect them all from harm as they go into battle on land, in the sea and in the air.  Take away whatever fear from their hearts and enable them to overcome swiftly and decisively the violence and cruelty of war.

Console their loved ones and family members who remain on the home front. Gently dry the tears of those who mourn for the wounded in battle and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.  Bless all those affected with your loving presence.

Receive Lord all who have died in the hope of the resurrection, and those whose faith is known to you alone, that, with all the
saints, they may have rest in that place where there is no pain or grief, but life eternal. We pray for those who joined you in your heavenly kingdom this week, esp.

O God, the Father of all, whose Son commanded us to love our enemies and those who wish us harm: Lead them and us from prejudice to truth:
deliver them and us from hatred, cruelty, and revenge; and in
your good time enable us all to stand reconciled before you. God, you have bound us together in a common life. Guide the people of this land, and of all the nations,
in the midst of our struggles to work together with mutual forbearance and respect so that we may honor one another, serving the common good.

Prayers For Our Military : June 10-16, 2013

soldier-prayingO Judge of the nations, we remember before you with grateful
hearts the men and women of our armed forces at home
and abroad who in the day of
decision ventured much for the liberties we now enjoy. We commend them to your gracious care and
keeping and we pray that day by day you will defend them with your heavenly
grace; strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant
them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be. Grant
that we may not rest until all the people of this land share the
benefits of true freedom and gladly accept its disciplines.

Receive Lord all who have died in the hope of the resurrection, and those whose faith is known to you alone, that, with all the
saints, they may have rest in that place where there is no pain or grief, but life eternal. We pray for those who joined you in your heavenly kingdom this week, esp.

Prayers For Our Military : Memorial Day

Happy-Memorial-Day-2013-Best-quotes-SMS-messages-wishes

In our 238 years fighting as a country we have lost 1,321,612 men and women in our wars and major deployments.  On this Memorial Day, we pray for the 1.3+ million soldiers who gave the ultimate price for our freedom and the 40+ million who have and continue to protect our freedom by serving in our military.  Words will never be enough but we want to say THANK YOU!

God of love and justice, it is your will that we live together in peace. Yet we live in a world in which war often seems inevitable. May we recognize with humility and sadness the tragic loss of life that comes in war. And as we enjoy freedom, we give thanks for those who have served with courage and honor; for those who resist evil and preserve justice.

We give thanks for those that are willing to serve. Let all soldiers everywhere serve with honor, pride, and compassion. Do not let their hearts be hardened by the actions they must take. Strengthen their families and keep them surrounded and guided by your love. We thank you for those that put the welfare of others ahead of their own safety. Let us all be inspired by their self-sacrifice in service to those who need protection.

Memorial-Day-PrayersWe give thanks for all who made the ultimate sacrifice for us. We ask that you be with those in pain from their loss and keep us mindful that you promised to comfort all who mourn and help us to be a comfort to them as well.

And by your grace, may we have the strength and courage to truly honor those who have served by working for peace. May we see in them not only their courage, but also our own call to work for a world that no longer sacrifices life in the quest for peace; that we might envision in our hearts and work in our lives toward that which you have promised through the prophet Isaiah: that day when swords will be beaten into plough shares and spears into pruning hooks, that day when nation shall not rise up against nation, and that day when we shall not learn war any more. Amen.
